Hungary – On the occasion of the end-of-year celebrations, the Hungarian government offers food vouchers to retirees, worth 10,000 forints (31.85 euros).

On average, a pensioner receives 117,000 forints per month (372 euros), but more than half of pensioners receive less than 100,000 forints per month (318 euros). In 2017, pensions will increase by 1.6%.

The government closed the annual budget successfully, so Mr. Orbán announced that it was normal for retirees to benefit.

In the opposition, some see it as a political gesture preparing for the 2018 campaign.
