The Polish hero of the Berlin attack

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Germany, Berlin – On Monday the 19 at a Christmas market in Berlin, 12 people died after a truck crashed on the Breitscheidplatz. The wanted culprit would be a Tunisian man, whose identity card was found in the truck.

Lukasz Urban, the Polish truck driver who was driving the truck before being attacked by the terrorist, was, according to his cousin and employer Ariel Zurawski, a man of great physical strength: the Polish was 120 kg (265 pounds) for 1.83m (6 feet). He stressed that “One person would not have been able to overpower him”. Lukasz Urban was a father, with a child. He had his wife on the phone one hour before the attack and he was planning to come back for Christmas.

The Polish driver was beaten and stabbed many times. Despite this, he would have used all his strength to keep or resume driving, and thus prevent more people from being killed.

Lukasz Urban was not dead when the truck finished its course, but his body was found lifeless on the passenger seat, shot dead before the culprit escaped.

The suspect (s) still wanted

A first suspect, a Pakistani asylum seeker, was arrested by the police but released for lack of evidence. He is known by the authorities for sexual violence.
