    In early November 2004, the USS Princeton, part of the Nimitz carrier group, embarked on a training exercise. Gary Voorhis, a former Petty Officer 3rd Class, recalls hearing about “ghost tracks” and “clutter” plaguing the ship’s radar systems. Concerned about potential malfunctions, Voorhis and his team recalibrated the advanced radar systems, only to find the anomalies became clearer. These objects appeared at various altitudes and speeds, defying known aircraft characteristics. Kevin Day, an Operations Specialist Senior Chief on the Princeton, was tasked with monitoring the skies. He noted the strange radar tracks appeared in groups and moved in ways that defied explanation. Despite the anomalies, the crew continued their routine operations, unaware of the significance of their observations.<\/p>\n

    On November 14, during an air-defense exercise, Day convinced his superior to let him direct aircraft to intercept the unknown objects. This decision led to a now-famous encounter between Navy Commander David Fravor and an unidentified aerial vehicle.
