    Replacing Older Howitzers<\/h2>\n

    Taiwan’s current artillery arsenal includes nearly 200 older M109A2 and A5 howitzers. In 2021, a U.S. Foreign Military Sales offer for 40 M109A6 units was approved but never realized. The Republic of China Army (RoCA) is now eyeing the more advanced M109A7. This newer variant offers several upgrades while maintaining the A6\u2019s armament and cab structure. Key enhancements include a modernized chassis, upgraded drive systems, and an integrated digital fire-control system. Such improvements are crucial for maintaining compatibility with the M2 Bradley fighting vehicle components.<\/p>\n

    At the TADTE, industry insiders revealed that Taiwan is considering acquiring between 60 to 160 howitzers, sourced from various suppliers.
