    The escalating proliferation of space-based threats has prompted the U.S. Space Force to seek innovative solutions for monitoring and securing its assets in space. Enter Vantor, a satellite imaging company formerly known as Maxar Intelligence, which has been contracted to provide a “neighborhood watch” in space. This initiative aims to keep a vigilant eye on potential threats such as rogue satellites and debris in the bustling low Earth orbit. By repurposing existing satellite technology, Vantor is poised to enhance the nation’s space situational awareness, marking a significant shift in how space security is approached.<\/p>\n

    Space Force Enlists Vantor for Space Surveillance<\/h2>\n

    The U.S. Space Force has teamed up with Vantor to bolster space security in the increasingly crowded low Earth orbit. This strategic collaboration involves using Vantor’s existing fleet of satellites to monitor and protect American assets in space. With a constellation of ten satellites, seven of which are capable of capturing space-to-space imagery, Vantor is uniquely positioned to detect threats that ground-based sensors might miss. The low Earth orbit, ranging from 99 to 1,200 miles above the Earth’s surface, is home to numerous satellites and debris, making it a critical area for surveillance.<\/p>\n

    Vantor’s general manager for U.S. government operations, Susanne Hake, highlighted the company’s capability to track space objects and potential threats.
