{"id":5256,"date":"2023-03-03T06:35:21","date_gmt":"2023-03-03T06:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/visegradpost.com\/?p=5256"},"modified":"2025-06-11T06:37:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T05:37:11","slug":"a-polish-korean-consortium-to-manufacture-tanks-and-howitzers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/visegradpost.com\/en\/2023\/03\/03\/a-polish-korean-consortium-to-manufacture-tanks-and-howitzers\/","title":{"rendered":"A Polish\u2013Korean consortium to manufacture tanks and howitzers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Poland<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Polish arms company Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa announced on Friday, 24 February,\u00a0the signing of agreements\u00a0to strengthen its cooperation with its South Korean partners.<\/p>\n<p>According to the press release issued by the company, which is based in Radom (some 100 km south of Warsaw),<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>the signed documents establish a framework for industrial cooperation with South Korean companies<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>to produce\u00a0K2 Black Panther tanks and K9 Thunder howitzers\u00a0in Poland:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>It has been agreed that<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>the joint production of K2PL tanks and associated vehicles on a tracked chassis will take place at Wojskowe Zak\u0142ady Motoryzacyjne in Pozna\u0144.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>The scope of industrial capacities to be transferred to WZM and other PGZ companies has also been defined, including tank assembly and the creation of capacities for the production of tanks and turrets<\/em>\u00a0(\u2026)<\/p>\n<p><em>As a result of the negotiations with Hanwha Aerospace, an agreement has been signed on the creation of a Polish\u2013Korean consortium for the production of the K9PL<\/em>\u00a0<em>howitzers. The Polish side is represented in the consortium by PGZ S.A. and Huta Stalowa Wola S.A.<\/em>\u00a0(\u2026)\u00a0<em>The first stage involves the integration and final assembly of the K9PL howitzers, and<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>the second stage will see the production of the K9PL howitzers at HSW\u2019s facilities.<\/em>\u00a0\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>820 K2PL tanks and 460 K9PL howitzers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As the Polish defence newspaper\u00a0<em>Dziennik Zbrojny<\/em>\u00a0writes, \u201c<em>the basis for ordering the production of K2PL tanks and K9PL howitzers in Poland is the framework agreements signed on 27 July 2022.
