    The SIPRI Yearbook 2025 paints a sobering picture of the current state of nuclear weapons deployment worldwide. Out of an estimated total of 12,241 nuclear warheads globally, approximately 9,614 are in military stockpiles ready for potential use. Of these, around 3,912 warheads are actively deployed with missiles and aircraft, with a significant portion being maintained at high operational readiness on ballistic missiles.
