Czech Republic, Prague – The Minister of Foreign Affairs Lubomír Zaorálek said that he would like to add the name “Czechia” to the United Nations Geographical Names database. This name sounds like the one sometimes used by Czechs, “Česko”.
This shorten name would be used to promote the country or during sport events. It’s intendend to be popularized with English speakers, that for the moment use the name “Czech Republic”, but also with Czechs themselves, to produce a media impact for the country.
