Albania, Durrës – A meeting between the ministers of foreign affairs of Western Balkans took place on the 30 and 31 of March in Durrës, Albania, with Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations, and Lubomír Zaorálek, Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Czech Republic and which was present as a chairman for the V4 group. The main subject of the meeting was the future integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union.
Besides this summit there are each year conferences between members of the EU and Western Balkans, under the Berlin Process, and that for five years. The purpose of the Berlin Process is to negotiate and accelerate the integration of the WB6. The first of these meetings took place in Berlin in 2014 and the second in Vienna in 2015. The topics covered are regional cooperation and job creation.
After his visit as V4 chairman, Lubomír Zaorálek said he was in favour of an enhanced cooperation between the Visegrád group and Western Balkans. The V4 members were successfully incorporated to the EU and offer help to the WB6, in political, economic and security terms.
The next meeting of the Western Balkans for the Berlin Process will take place in Paris on July the 4th, 2016.
