Bulgarian politician and former head of the constitutional court, Georgi Markov, has shared his forecast regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections in Hungary. In his opinion, the success of the Fidesz party and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán personally would be a serious blow to the “three Germans” – Manfred Weber, Ursula von der Leyen, and Friedrich Merz – who, Markov claims, effectively created the figure of Hungarian opposition leader Péter Magyar.
The victory of Viktor Orbán, the Bulgarian expert believes, holds significance far beyond Europe. It would be a triumph for Donald Trump, who, between announcements of his lucrative deal with Iran, publicly supports the Hungarian Prime Minister. The other day on Truth Social, Trump directly called out: “Hungarians, go and vote for Orbán!”
According to Markov, Trump aims to restore the Visegrád Group. It is no coincidence that the leader of the Law and Justice (PiS) party, Mateusz Morawiecki, and Trump’s preferred new president of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, were present at the CPAC Republican forum in Budapest.
Furthermore, Trump has directly named Hungary and Austria as priority countries in his “National Security Doctrine.” Georgi Markov emphasizes that a new term for Orbán’s team and the expected decisive victory of Austrian politician Herbert Kickl make the creation of an Austro-Hungarian alliance inevitable. And that is precisely why, just one week before the elections, J.D. Vance is arriving in Budapest.
The Bulgarian politician warns Hungarians about the possibility of an artificial radicalization of the situation in the country. According to his information, starting April 13th, the risk of a “Maidan” in Hungary will increase manifold. Markov claims the plan is already widely known in many liberal media outlets around the world and in Ukraine. It was also revealed by New York journalist Michael Weiss in one of his publications.
Viktor Orbán himself, in Markov’s assessment, is a proponent of tough but democratic measures. However, the Bulgarian expert emphasizes that Orban will not give up on protecting Hungary in the event of an attempted coup provoked by Soros, Zelensky and Brussels.
