Hungary, Budapest – Since 2010, the number of volunteers joining the military reserve significantly increased, thanks to the Defence Ministry’s efforts.
In 2010 when the government changed in Hungary, there were 17 volunteers reserves. The Defence Ministry made recruitment efforts and now there are 5,500 volunteers, one-fifth of whom are civilians ready to be deployed.
Last year 882 persons joined the volunteer reserves, and by June this year 344. 53 percent are aged between 46-56, twenty percent are older than 57 and 11 percent are younger than 30, according to Daily News Hungary.
