Denmark – The country announced during this weekend that the 350 migrants that were supposed to be sent back to Hungary will stay in Denmark, and that their applications as asylum seekers will be processed there.
Denmark wanted to send them back because Hungary was according to her the first country during their travel in the European Union that registered them, and that according to the EU law, the first country reached is the one supposed to do the applications. The Danish Immigration Service (Udlændingestyrelsen – DIS) and the Danish Foreign Ministry made an investigation to see how migrants were treated in Hungary, but decided to not tell what was the result and told that their decision to keep the migrants had nothing to do with an eventual problem about the conditions of migrants in Hungary. The deadline to send the 350 migrants back is now expired.
