Slovenia, Ljubljana – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko visited Slovenia at the invitation of Borut Pahor, President of Slovenia. After their meeting, Slovenian President declared his country supports the sanctions against Russia until the Minsk agreements are fully implemented.

On November 8, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko visited for the first time Slovenia and met with his counterpart. The two leaders discussed in private on several topics, and then held a joint press conference. “The Republic of Slovenia will continue to take efforts to restore sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and support the European Union’s sanctions policy against Russia until the Minsk Agreements are fully implemented,” declared the Slovenian President, Borut Pahor, before adding that he also condemns Russia’s aggression in Ukraine’s east and the annexation of Crimea and calls on Russia to stop military, financial and other assistance to separatists.

“We are grateful to Slovenia for supporting the continuation of sanctions until full withdrawal of Russian troops and restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” Petro Poroshenko said.

In July, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Slovenia and met with Borut Pahor.
