Mingyang Smart Energy reports that its unique counter-rotating blade design enhances electricity production by 4.29% compared to a single turbine sweeping a similar area. This synchronization of the two turbines allows them to operate at the same frequency, further improving energy conversion efficiency.

A Device Capable of Withstanding Severe Typhoon and Hurricane Winds
The giant dual-headed wind turbine from Mingyang Smart Energy is reportedly capable of operating during a Category 5 hurricane, withstanding winds up to 162 mph. According to the Chinese company, it can endure the severe winds of typhoons and hurricanes, with a turbulence intensity of 0.135. This is relatively high, as most existing offshore wind farms have much lower turbulence intensities. Additionally, the platform can continue generating electricity amidst waves reaching heights of 98 feet.
Mingyang Smart Energy emphasizes that the OceanX is the first wind turbine to utilize “ultra-high-performance concrete” with a strength of 115 MPa. This advanced material enhances the turbine’s durability and resilience, ensuring its functionality even in extreme weather conditions.
