Fabricated by Taiwan’s TSMC using a 3 nm process, the same as Apple’s, the Xring 01 is based on licensed ARM architecture. It features a unique ten-core configuration divided into four clusters:

  • 2 Cortex-X925 cores clocked at 3.9 GHz for peak power
  • 4 Cortex-A725 cores at 3.4 GHz for intensive tasks
  • 2 more A725 cores at 1.9 GHz for moderate loads
  • 2 Cortex-A520 cores at 1.8 GHz for energy efficiency

This design aims to optimize both performance and power consumption, ensuring smooth transitions across various tasks. In initial performance tests, the Xring 01 has shown results equal to or better than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, and superior to Apple’s A18 Pro. While these figures should be approached cautiously, they represent a remarkable technological leap for Xiaomi, whose last in-house processor, the Surge S1 in 2017, was in a completely different league.

Currently, Xiaomi continues to produce its chips through TSMC, but the possibility of a U.S. embargo looms. The company reportedly has a contingency plan, anticipating a potential repeat of Huawei’s scenario.
